What is VAIO Overseas
service for Japan Tourist Models? |

The VAIO Overseas
Service for Japan Tourist Models (the "Service") provides after-sales
service at no additional charge in countries designated within the Terms and Conditions
detailed below. To be entitled to the Service, you must register by providing
your personal information as required in the VAIO Overseas Service for Japan Tourist
Models registration leaflet. Failing to do so may render you ineligible for the Service.

"Service"), please review the contents below:

1. Eligible Customers and Products |
The Service is available only to customers who have purchased
an eligible product directly from Sony or an officially recognized Sony distributor
in Japan. At the time of purchase of the eligible model, you must register your
personal information in order to be entitled to use of the Service while in one
of the designated countries listed below. |
2. Period During Which the Service is Effective |
The Service is valid for a period of twelve (12) months from
the original date of purchase of the Product from Sony or an officially recognized
Sony distributor in Japan. |
3. Designated Areas Where Service
is Provided |
The Service is offered only in the countries and areas stated
below: |
Asia: Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong
Europe: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Ireland,
Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland,
United Kingdom
North America: United States of America, Canada
Oceania: Australia, New Zealand
Middle East: United Arab Emirates

4. Free-of-Charge Repair Conditions |
Repair at no charge is provided for defects in hardware materials
or workmanship under standard usage (consistent with the instruction manual, labels,
and other printed material included with the Product). Power and telecommunications
standards for the model types designated for the Service are for use in Hong Kong,
Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand and United Arab Emirates. When using
the Product elsewhere, it is the Customer’s responsibility to ensure that
the Product is used in compliance with such specifications. When the defect is
caused by use in an environment that does not meet the specifications of the Product,
you will be charged for the repair. |

Important notice for
Japan Tourist models |

Tourist models are
neither designed nor manufactured for the use in Japan.
Refrain from using them in Japan.
Their power supply is not designed for use in Japan.
The shapes of their plugs are different and so they cannot be used in Japan as
they are.
It is prohibited to use (some) modems and wireless LANs in Japan by Japanese Radio
Law. |

Note on connecting
to the Internet using the built-in modem (Windows® XP) |

On the tourist models,
the modem is initially set to [United States] in the settings of "Country/region".
You may need to change the settings if you use it in a different country or region.
Make the settings with the following procedure.
--Procedure--
1. Click the [Start] button and then click [Control Panel].
2. Click [Printer and Other Hardware] in the [Control Panel] window.
3. Click [Phone and Modem Options].
4. When the dialog box of [Phone and Modem Options] appears, click the [Edit]
button.
5. When the [Edit Location] dialog box appears, make the following settings.
- Select your country/region
in the [Country/Region:] pull-down menu.
- Enter an area code (city code)
in the [Area_Code:] text box.
- Set a dialing system (tone
or pulse) in [Dial Using:].
6. When you have made the settings, click the [OK] button. |

How to change NTSC

In the case of "DVgate"
--Procedure--
1. Click the [Start] button and then click [My Computer].
2. Open the following folder. "C:¥Program Files¥Sony¥DVgate"
3. Double-click the [DVsigchg.exe] file.
4. When the dialog box of [NTSC/PAL Switcher] appears, click the [Yes] button.
5. Click the [NTSC] option button and then click the [OK] button.
In the case of "Movie Shaker"
--Procedure--
1. Click the [Start] button and then click [My Computer].
2. Open the following folder. "C:¥Program Files¥Sony¥MovieShaker"
3. Double-click the [MVSigChg] file.
4. When the dialog box of [NTSC/PAL Switcher] appears, click the [Yes] button.
5. Click the [NTSC] option button and then click the [OK] button.
